Recipient Org: Description We develop interventions that enable service users to make positive lifestyle choices in relation to their health and well-being. We are a community engagement organisation, which works with disadvantaged and marginalised communities across Leeds to address inequity and inequality of access to Education, Health and Social Care locally, regionally and nationally. We work mainly with individuals and communities from the Black Asian and Minority Ethnic population within the city of Leeds Within the last 10 years, BHI has developed bespoke programmes to ensure that the profile of health and wellbeing issues that disproportionately affect visible minority communities in Leeds are being raised working in partnership with a number of innovative partners that share the same or similar aims. We work across all age groups. We have five main programmes with a cross cutting theme of Health and Wellbeing - Teenagers/Young Adults; Men; Women; Support Our Seniors and The Counselling Project. We also carry out research into key areas of health inequalities on behalf of partners e.g. our CEO worked with York St John University to carry out research into Covid-19 vaccine hesitancy funded by Leeds City Council and NHS CCG Leeds. Due to our strong position and our experience, we work in partnership with local regional and national charities, statutory bodies (NHS/Local Authorities/Police) and other third sector organisations. We work strategically with the decision and policy makers locally, influence nationally and operationally with and for individuals/communities from the Black Asian and Minority Ethnic population.
