Recipient Org: Charity Number 1162962
Recipient Org: Description Based in the Beeston and Holbeck ward of Leeds, Hamara is a charitable organisation dedicated to improving the quality of life of the people across the city. We are one of the largest organisations in the voluntary and community sector in Leeds and have a strong reputation for delivering innovative and transformative charitable services, improving the life outcomes of some of the most disadvantaged people in England. We were established in 1994 working out of a small office with 2 part-time staff working solely on one project. We now operate out of The Hamara Centre, a multi-purpose community centre in the Beeston area of the city. Acquired in 2016, the Cockburn Sports Hall and Centre has added to our assets, enabling us to deliver quality sports programmes and a community café to the people of South Leeds. Our professional and dedicated team is now made up of over 48 people with a rich and diverse skill set, helping us deliver transformative services to the local community and beyond. We currently provide support for people of all ages, communities and backgrounds including comprehensive advice and information support, day services for adults with learning disabilities, training and education, youth activities, sport, and projects aimed at improving mental health and wellbeing. On average, we engage with 10,000 people from the local area every year and this continues to grow.
