Recipient Org: Description Flourishing Families Leeds is all about changing futures by bringing down the barriers which hinder families living in deprivation. We focus on tackling the root issues of poverty. We believe prevention is far better than cure, so we work with young children and their families. We partner with primary schools, the City Council and other organisations to support those most at risk from inter-generational poverty and social isolation. Our beneficiaries play an active part in shaping activities, which include: • Addressing the challenge of food poverty, poor nutrition and childhood obesity through family cookery clubs. • Taking on the challenge of low family literacy levels through Story Tellers Clubs. • Helping tackle the challenges faced by primary school-aged children of invisible barriers to educational engagement though activity-based mentoring. • Supporting parents and carers through our support groups. • Coordinating all the above activities into tailor-made holistic solutions for individual families.
