Strengthening Climate Resilience and Safety of African Seaports: Understanding Risks and Impacts (360G-LloydsRegisterFdn-Mc-100298)

The proposed project will convene multi-stakeholder dialogues to strengthen climate-informed maritime safety and maintain operational continuity for the ports of Mombasa and Tema. Port and maritime authorities, port workers, operators, coastal communities, and civil society will jointly identify climate risks and prioritise climate-driven safety threats to infrastructure, operations, people, and surrounding ecosystems, then agree on practical adaptation measures. Through the convenings, stakeholders will co-create a Port Safety & Resilience Action Plan mapping climate risks and impacts, adaptation actions and practices, and financing options to inform policy and investment. For continuity, the project will support strengthening a port community of practice.
