Grant to Shetland Islands Council Education and Social Care Department (360G-NLHF-AAS/4/010314679)

Shetland Islands Council's Schools Service will deliver a project on Viking heritage to schools. They will work with Timeslip, a company of historical interpreters, who will come to the area to deliver a programme of events, including the recreation of a Viking homestead, which will aim to explore and develop an understanding of the Viking heritage of the area. The project will also tie in to local community events celebrating Up Helly Aa, and through this, will aim to create links between the schools and the wider community. This project meets the Awards for All aim of 'Improving Quality of Life'. The award will fund historical interpreters' fees, accomodation and ferry travel.
