This Museum Will Use An Award To Commemorate Wwii By Capturing, Recording And Integrating Local Memories About The War Years Into The Museum'S Permanent Galleries, While It Is Still Possible To Do So Using First Hand Experiences. The First Stage Of The Project Is To Train Volunteers In Oral History Techniques, Collect The Memories That Will Also Be Included In The Bbc People'S War Website And Create An Educational Pack To Be Distributed To Schools, With Additional Good Practice Information About How To Conduct Their Own Reminiscence Work. This Will Be Followed By A Wartime Tea Dance Event, Which Will Launch A Temporary Exhibition In The Museum Featuring The Material Gathered Through The Interviews. The Exhibition Will Explore Themes Of Evacuation, Military Presence, War Work, The Home Guard And Civil Defence Etc, And Will Include A Number Of Interactive Workshops For School Groups Such As Gas Mask Making, Rationing Games And Interviews Of Volunteers Who Worked On The Project. Training, Interviewing, Recording, Editing, Website Creation, Cd Design And Production, School Pack Costs, Etc (£9,336); 'Wartime Tea Dance' And Project Launch Costs - Hire Of Hall, Band And Re-Enactors, Photographer, Decorations, Transport For Veterans And Volunteers, Etc (£3,028); Contribution To Exhibition Costs (£7,636).
