Bedford Borough Council Will Use A Grant To Organise A Series Of Events Aimed At Celebrating The Important Role Of Bedford During The War. It Was At The Heart Of The Build Up To D-Day, The Centre Of Britain'S Spy Network And The Region To Which The Bbc Was Evacuated During The Blitz. A Carnival Style Event Is Being Planned To Both Commemorate This Role And To Celebrate Over 60 Years Of Peace. This Will Involve A Large Cross-Section Of The Community Being Involved In A Number Of Interactive Drama, Dance And Storytelling Events. The Role Of The Black And Asian Communities Will Also Be Highlighted Through The 'Lest We Forget' Programme.
