East Sussex County Council Library & Information Services Will Use A Grant To Organise A Series Of Exhibitions And Events Designed To Commemorate The 60th Anniversary Of Ve/Vj Day. Following A Launch Party To Raise Awareness Of The Anniversary, There Will Be A Number Of Talks Given By Local Historians And Veterans Regarding Various Aspects Of The War. This Is Aimed At Both Local Schools And People From The Wider Community. This Will Run In Conjunction With An Exhibition Of Materials From Local Museums/Libraries Alongside Memorabilia And Photographs Contributed By The Public, This Will Then Become Part Of The Permanent Exhibition Within The Local Prison. To Support Theses Events, Two Libraries Will Take The Lead Role In Recording The Wartime Memories Of Local Residents That Will Form The Backbone Of An Educational Resource Pack To Be Made Widely Available Through Local Libraries.
