Porthkerry Country Park is 97Ha in total and set just west of Barry, within the Vale of Glamorgan. It lies in a unique position on the South Wales coastline, at the southernly most gateway to the future vision of the National Forest of Wales. Porthkerry Country Park’s position provides excellent links to public transport, it has National Cycle route 88 running through it and has easy, direct access onto the Wales Coast Path. The park also boasts good carparking, café and recreational facilities. The grant will help provide and improve access-for-all, encourage and engage interaction with residents from all areas and backgrounds, provide new interpretation to help inform and engage in woodland management, giving visitors the opportunity to participate in volunteer activities whilst developing the woodlands health and vitality and improve canopy cover and maintain the woodlands heritage and biodiversity for future generations.
