Operation Chariot Memorial Project (360G-NLHF-HA-24-01391)

Our aim is to promote and protect the legacy of ‘Operation Chariot’, the Raid on St Nazaire, France on 28th March 1942 which involved all three services. Known as ‘The Greatest Raid of All’, the heroism of those involved was legendary and while the events of the Raid will always be remembered in the history books, the role of the Trust is to keep the memories alive. Two primary objectives: 1) To develop and deliver an education programme to disseminate the history of the Raid, the lessons learned and to perpetuate the memory of those involved in Operation Chariot and what they achieved. 2) To design, build and ensure the maintenance of a permanent memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum. The aim of this part of the project is to provide a focal point and to be a crucial enabler for the delivery of the Trust’s educational mission. .
