Tackling Loneliness - the Intergenerational Way (360G-OCF-A622444)
Our main expenditure will be in the core costs of staff time to support young people organise, plan and deliver on the activities. Other expenditure will include hire of venues, professional entertainment, food, art materials and care bags. Volunteers would prepare the food and give lifts to the elderly which will not incur any expenditure as all time is donated.

Recipient Org: Description | Rooted within our communities, we provide open access social activities (youth clubs, sports, craft etc.) as well as targeted early interventions to ensure positive outcomes for young people aged 10+ to 18. Work focuses on building social-emotional skills, positive mental attitudes towards self, school and others including fostering a sense of belonging and leadership within the wider community which promotes social cohesion. The intergenerational work was a beacon of hope in the pandemic as young people delivered care packs to the isolated and elderly, and organised doorstep bingo. Street work by qualified youth workers is the cornerstone of our delivery, gaining the trust of our core target group who disclose adverse childhood experiences; have unstable domestic arrangements; fractured relationships; bullied; succumb to negative peer pressure, and partake in substance abuse and have/are at risk of offending. The needs analyses picked up in street conversations inform our 1-2-1 and group interventions. |
