Recipient Org: Charity Number 1161144
Recipient Org: Description A Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) providing the relief of those in need, for any reason including but not limited to ill health, disability, financial hardship or social exclusion. The charity offers:- 1) an Advice Centre service to Vale of White Horse residents, which provides assistance on topics such as benefits entitlement, housing, domestic abuse, consumer, relationships, debt counselling, personal budgeting, employment and community support. In 2020/21 6,665 consultations were undertaken an 18% increase from year prior. 2) a transport service with volunteers in their own cars often ensuring clients not only attend essential health related appointments and Day Centres but providing reassurance, offering assistance as part of the drive support 3) a befriending/Good Neighbour service to combat loneliness, isolation and lack of confidence. Led by our Community Advice Liaison Manager the office and volunteer team providing the Good Neighbour service to residents conducted more than 3,000 consultations for over 200 cases in the most recent annual reporting period. All three of our services continued to operate throughout the pandemic, transport being the service most negatively impacted in volume, but the Advice arena has seen a 15%+ increase in demand again since January, further increase anticipated, and the self referrals or partner/3rd party referrals for befriending have also shown a significant rise due to extreme loneliness and isolation. Technology investment through S106 and fundraising meant the Advice volunteers were able to efficiently support clients remotely however with the exception of March-June 2020 with careful planning, Covid19 processes and risk assessments face-to-face advice appointments have still been taking place at our Wantage location.
