No1 Youth Café Volunteers (360G-PeoplesHealthTrust-2013_14)

£9,724

The funding will enable Boomerang Community Centre to deliver 100 sessions over one year for 12 disadvantaged young people aged 12-16 in the Stobswell area of Dundee. Participants will work with local groups including The Friends of Swannie Ponds and Friends of Baxter Park to maintain community environmental facilities. The project aims to integrate young people into community life as volunteers, promote healthier more active lifestyles whilst achieving the Dynamic Youth Accreditation certification. The management committee is comprised of local people and aims to form a youth forum to sustain this project in the future. The project will address issues of abuse and/or risk of abuse, risk of offending as well as general community and neighbourhood work.
