Incredible, Edible Ashington (360G-PeoplesHealthTrust-2013_156)

This new two year project will establish community access plots around the town of Ashington where fresh fruit, vegetables and herbs are grown by the community for the community. It will brighten and tidy up neglected areas, bring people together to share skills and enable access to free fresh produce. The scheme has been inspired by Incredible Edible Todmorden. There will be a total of 150 beneficiaries, with ten people benefitting regularly. Beneficiaries will be made up of: economically inactive adults, families, and people with disabilities. An Action Group made up of local people will help steer the project. The project aims to address issues of social / emotional isolation; poor physical environment; and general community and neighbourhood work.
