Castleford Community Workshop incorporating Castleford Men in Sheds (360G-PeoplesHealthTrust-2019_135)

£12,500

This two-year project creates a woodworking workshop where adults from the Wakefield district of West Yorkshire, particularly those experiencing mental health issues, can come together. Participants can get involved with woodworking projects or simply socialise over tea and a chat. The safe and non-judgemental environment will enable participants to take their minds off their problems and to make new friendships, reducing social isolation, anxiety and mental health issues as well as supporting social cohesion. Members will help develop the project through bi-monthly committee meetings, informal discussions and feedback forms. There will be opportunities to volunteer as the project grows to include further sessions or other activities and the project may support participants to get work ready.
