No Steps - Short Historical Walks in Newcastle (360G-PeoplesHealthTrust-2019_91)

This one-year project ran monthly 'No Steps' Historical Walks around Newcastle for people with disabilities, elderly people and their carers. The walks were facilitator-led and took place outdoors, with the option of trips to a museum or art gallery in inclement weather. Participants with disabilities and /or long-term conditions who may have little access to exercise and getting out came together to build confidence, mobility and social interactions, promoting greater independence, thinking skills and wellbeing. Participants met for an initial project planning session and shaped the project by taking part in discussions at the end of every walk and / or through feedback and suggestions sent directly to the organisation.
