Independent Living (360G-SCVO-a0gb000000QAf2wAAD)
We started taking in referrals since November 2015 from partner organisations or direct approach. Since then, we have had 28 clients who we directly look after by providing vouchers. Most of them are homeless while a few are asylum seekers. A few also have dependants who we help care for. We issued 226 vouchers altogether since November 2015, out of which 188 have been redeemed. We want to expand our services to support more referred clients in 2017: 1. Hire a part time social worker who would 1.1 conduct drop in clinics at our new office to expand the number of clients 1.2 interview and assess their needs and give out our meal vouchers/bus tickets. With more clients, we will need more vouchers and bus tickets. 1.4 refer them to our partner organisations for more specific needs 2. Equip clients with basic independent living skills by conducting workshops such as basic cooking, budgeting, job interview/cv writing etc. We want to liaise with other organisations to jointly hold such workshops for our and their clients as to utilise different strengths of the various organisations to benefit the clients. This independent living project allows our clients: 1. get an emergency provisions to tide them 2. allow them to move forward with their lives equipped with skills while allowing a better synergy between the various participating organisations, where each organisation can leverage other organisations' knowledge, expertise, and strengths.

Recipient Org: Description | Meal on Me is a SCIO, started in July 2013, inspired by the Suspended Coffee scheme originated in Italy. Our aim is to ensure that vulnerable people needing a hot tasty meal can get it. We provide the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage by 1.1.Providing free meal vouchers which the beneficiaries can redeem at participating cafés. 1.2.Allowing the beneficiaries further access to interactions with the society through the free meal, enhancing their self-confidence and well-being. Other than working with our partner organisations in distributing the vouchers, we also take in referrals from various organisations. For these, we extend a few services linked to our voucher scheme: Bus passes for those who really have difficulty in accessing the cafes, Emergency food parcels for those who are forced to stay in hostels and have no recourse to cooking facilities. |
