DabbleGen (360G-SCVO-a11b000000NBlo5AAD)
This project will build on our award-winning DigiDabble initiative targeting families to promote attitudinal and behavioural change, and develop the audience for digital participation among children and older learners. The initiative will: • support older library learners to develop digital skills • effect attitudinal change towards people as their mental acuity changes and requires a different approach, and challenges library services to be delivered to meet entirely different needs. This project will bring together library resources and older and younger people, offering a range of digital activities to stimulate the mind. Participants will be invited to take part in a minimum of 4 workshops and will be introduced to a range of technology – tablets, laptops and digital equipment such as robotics and Osmos. A selection of apps will be used to introduce participants to the technology, for example Darts, Solitaire, Snakes and Ladders, Monopoly and Scrabble. Participants can instantly connect with these activities and this will help to get over their fear of using the technology. Through discussions with participants they will progress to learning how to download/access content of their choice. We will also work with staff in sheltered housing units, day services units (dementia services and support for the frail and elderly) to enable them to continue to support people to develop digital skills, helping to ensure sustainability.
