As part of our project, we distribute refurbished equipment to people in the community who are digitally excluded usually due to financial constraints e.g. people in low incomes, unemployed, people living in isolation, people with long term conditions particularly mental health problems, people being released from custody or hospitalisation, people with addiction issues, etc. We liaise with fellow Third Sector Organisations, community support services, Family Support services etc. We provide telephone digital support for anyone who needs assistance remotely. As part of our project, we provide IT assistance, repairs and support for the community. In January we will be providing basic computer classes for the community from centres throughout North Ayrshire.

Grant Programme: Description The Digital Lifelines small grants fund is to support small, local organisations to continue or extend digital inclusion activities with people at risk of death from a drug overdose and those who care about them and support them. This fund is for community-based organisations with an income of less than £250,000 in their last financial year. Organisations must:• Be based in Scotland or predominantly delivering services in Scotland• Have been operating for at least 18 months• Have a set of audited or independently examined accounts Grants to a maximum of £10k for up to twelve-months are available for local voluntary and community organisations. Whilst this might seem a small amount of money, we have seen incredible results for this investment.In addition to the grant funding• Organisations will be brought together up to three times within the lifetime of the grant to share what’s working, learn from each other and have the opportunity to iterate their activity. • An end of grant evaluation will be completed to understand the overall impact made.• The projects would be encouraged and supported to participate in the wider Digital Lifelines programme evaluation being led by Drugs Research Network Scotland. (DRNS)Purpose• To support people at risk of death from a drug overdose to be digitally included through locally based community organisations• To increase or extend the digital inclusion work that organisations are already undertakingTypes of organisations that will be supported are:• Charities, voluntary organisations, community groups, Social Enterprises and CICs with an asset lock. All organisations must be based in or delivering predominantly in Scotland. All activity associated with the delivery and management of this grant must be based in Scotland.What can be included within the application?All costs associated with delivering and managing the activity that you describe. This can include, but is not restricted to, additional delivery staff costs, management costs, volunteer expenses, devices, connectivity, and associated infrastructure costs for supporting people to be online.We define digital inclusion activity as ensuring that people have the skills, confidence, motivation, appropriate device and access to the internet to be able to participate within the digital world to do what they want and need to do.
