Recipient Org: Description • The needs of the community for a community centre were first established by community residents consulting all residents in 2014. Our consultation found that there was demand for a community centre. In order to address this finding and secure investment, Wilstockhub was founded as a Company Limited by Guarantee (CLG) with no share capital on 29 April 15. • Following its founding, Wilstockhub Trustees commissioned ‘Locality’, the national membership network for community organisations, to independently consult residents, assess needs and determine attendant cost and risk. Locality confirmed the demand for a community centre was the community’s priority – a place all ages can meet and socialise, enjoy recreation and culture, and young residents can benefit from early years education. • To further its aims Wilstockhub became a registered charity on 22 June 2018. Its charitable objects benefit residents through its association with them, local authorities, voluntary and other organisations by advancing education and providing social welfare, recreation and leisure facilities for all residents. • Six trustees exercise collective governance, oversight and management of the CLG and registered charity which is Wilstockhub. Building Wilstockhub is a two phase project. Phase 1 will found the communal community space. Phase 2 will complete this building project. • The Wilstockhub Charity/CLG works with organisations to offer Wilstock and Stockmoor residents of all ages a varied programme of easily accessible and attractive community events and wellbeing activities year-round. 2. Education, leisure and recreation facilities. 2. Community-led services. 3. Physical space to come together in our community. 3. Less travel to access services. • Our project legacy is growing Wilstockhub into the physical nexus that a) connects current and future residents. b) Provides a vital link between residents and community services.
