Recipient Org: Description | Spark Somerset is the local infrastructure charity, supporting the voluntary and community sector. Our aim is to inspire strong and sustainable communities through voluntary and community action. We provide information, advice, training and support to charities and community groups and represent the sector on strategic bodies. In the last year, we worked 1-2-1 with over 150 community groups, providing guidance and practical support on a range of issues. including start-ups, business planning, funding and volunteer management We run a volunteer service, inspiring people to make a difference in their communities and we are currently exploring more innovative approaches to expanding volunteering options. These include a focus on youth volunteering with the Duke of Edinburgh award and Yeovil College, a supported volunteering scheme and some joint working with SCF's Skills Bank project to build the engagement of employed professionals with voluntary sector organisations. We have previously delivered a youth volunteering project in partnership with Frome Town Council. We also work in partnership with local health services on our Wellbeing South Somerset project. |
