Recipient Org: Description Avalon Camps was founded in 1987 with the aim of providing a holiday for disadvantaged children (7-10 years old). We hold two, one week camps a year. We have three main objectives: To give a completely free holiday with no parental financial contribution to 64 children who are referred by their schools or social workers and who would not otherwise have a holiday, allowing each child respite from the conditions at home. To provide young people 14+ with meaningful volunteering opportunities, that not only impact the children's lives who attend the camps, but their own lives as well. To provide a rural community volunteering programme, bringing people together from all walks of life and fostering a strong local network.
