Recipient Org: Description | To act as a local and social community group encompassing all that want to be involved, including people of all ages, culture and economic background. To enable community action and cohesion by undertaking community activity projects, events and functions that support local people to be involved in local initiatives to bind the rural community. We undertake litter picking, maintenance of the natural and built environment, maintain a community orchard, produce apple juice, small amount of cider, graze and bread sheep on a small flock basis (20 approx), and hold social and community functions. These include Christmas meals, New Year parties, local quiz nights, progressive suppers between local hosting houses, We also support other local groups by member involvement in wider community activities including local fete, fun run, school and church activities. This year we held our first summer "Rickfest" open air day/evening party event, this was open to all villagers, families and local friends. The event was a BBQ, live music, children event and marvellous social gathering for people to meet, mingle and socialise with new and existing contacts. The event was free of charge and non required donations sought to fund costs and out of pocket expenses. |
