Recipient Org: Description | Vision North Somerset is a vibrant charity, which has been established in Weston Super Mare, North Somerset County, for over 40years, We provide vital practical and emotional support to over 1,600 disadvantaged people of all ages who are blind or in the transition stage of significant sight loss. For people with sight loss every day is a huge struggle and the challenge of not being able to do things that sighted people take for granted is exhausting. Our voluntary services provide a range of community led activities supported by our outstanding team of 78 volunteers which include: Early intervention at our local Weston General Hospital eye clinics for timely support to promote independence and to provide information which would otherwise not be accessible to people. 4 Social clubs and Café for inclusive peer support and sports activities to improve physical and emotional wellbeing. Home visiting to reduce loneliness, isolation and increase community participation. Benefit advice and Benefit form filling to ease financial hardship and reduce anxiety related to debt and poverty. One to one IT support to help keep people connected through assistive technology. We are passionate about helping people with sight loss and making a positive difference where people feel valued and part of their community. |
