Recipient Org: Description We manage a village hall, recreation ground and play area and our overall aim is to develop facilities for the benefit of the community in and around the rural villages of Allerford, Selworthy and Bossington, and to hire out the facilities to other groups and organisations when and where appropriate. We provide an award winning and well maintained sports field marked out and equipped for junior league football U11, U12, U13, U14, a ROSPA inspected small play area and a single storey village hall consisting of hall, kitchen, committee room, store and toilets. There are also four external sheds and a recently extended and resurfaced car park. The Hall is registered as a Place of Safety with the Somerset Local Authorities' Civil Contingencies Unit. It also has a five star Food Hygiene rating and is equipped with a broadband service. Access and egress to and from the hall has been upgraded and adapted to ensure that members of the public with mobility disability have equal opportunities to use and benefit from the facilities. On occasions we organise and participate in fund raising events where the profits are donated to third parties. The most recent example (2019) being a donation of £600+ to a Steering Group in Porlock involved in assisting members of the public understand and participate in consultation associated with the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Services' Committee's proposals impacting on not only Porlock but also 'the area of benefit'. Extract from Governing Document. 'The purpose of a village hall for the use of inhabitants ''in the area of benefit'' without distinction of sex or political, religious or other opinions and in particular for use for meetings leisure and classes and for other forms of recreation and leisure-time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants.'
