Recipient Org: Description Winhsam Recreational Trust (WRT) was set up back in February 2020 and is an ICO. It was set up to take over from the previous committee which disbanded on block. The WRT had access to the facilities in April 2020, which includes a pavillion with sports changing facilities large recreation ground which includes two full size football pitches. When the facilities were handed over we discovered that the pavilion and changing rooms was in disrepair and most of the assets had been removed. Due to covid-19 restrictions the facility was closed at this time but the committee has used this time to decorate, insulate and install new heating. We have decorated the changing rooms to improve the changing facilities how ever due to lack of funds we have not been able to replace the water cistern or upgrade the showers. As there was no money passed over from the previous Charity we applied and was successful in an award from the Parish Council to do remedial works. The facilities are used by Winsham Football Club, who are going to continue to use after restrictions have been relaxed. WFC have used the facilities since 1895 and as a Community we want to ensure they continue. Our local village horticultural society will be holding their annual show in August. We have a community fun day scheduled for the Summer holidays, which is inclusive of all age groups and supporting mental health and wellbeing. We have attracted a skittles team, a local parishioner will be using the facilities to provide a children's yoga group. We are looking to hold community events into the future and are in the process of planning these. We are in the process of applying for an Alcohol licence (previous license has lapsed with the former charity). This will also enhance the facilities. Although we have not been able to open due to Covid we have been working very hard to get the facility ready to be operational and activities will start next month. Many of the WRT have given there time and resources voluntarily to make this happen.
