Recipient Org: Description Wembdon Parklands and Community Together is a not for profit charity managed by 5 trustees, who have raised over £150,000, and transformed 6 acres of scrubland into an inclusive woodland nature trail and sanctuary for wildlife. The Wembdon Parklands leisure facility is enhancing the quality of life and wellbeing for those less abled, and who may feel isolated in the community; are elderly and lonely; wheel chair users; disabled with mobility issues; mental health issues; visually impaired; have young families but limited out door space to play or exercise in; any age with various learning disabilities. We installed pathways, fencing, solar lighting, planted 30 mature trees, hedging and shrubs, created insect hotels and sensory borders, essential in combating traffic emissions, making it a healthier space to enjoy. Conserving and enhancing the natural landscape is protecting and encouraging wildlife back into the area, and we have installed bat boxes and nesting boxes in the trees. created insect hotels and a stumpery to encourage biodiversity and increase invertebrates and insects in to the food chain . This has become a much loved recreational facility and during lockdown has really helped many people and we are continuing to maintain planting and make improvements.
