Activities include participatory events, learning workshops, art exhibitions and showcasing work in other locations in the town. Our charity objective is: For the public benefit the advancement of education in the arts in Yeovil and surrounding areas through the provision of visual arts, including, but not limited to digital, moving image, 2D & 3D contemporary art and design. Our aim is to create ‘A Space to Learn to share and to be Inspired’. We run projects in partnership with organisations, businesses, groups and individuals to reach different groups and communities across Yeovil and placing artists in all the work that we do. In the last 12 months, despite the impact of Covid-19, we have delivered a wide range of creative opportunities for communities in Yeovil in partnership with organisations, businesses and artists, including Summer School for 24 young people ages 13 - 18 (July, 2020), Apart Together Exhibition to showcase new works responding to the lockdown experience from more than 20 local artists (September 2020), Window Wanderland event involved more than 200 households with more than 4000 people visits(Feb 2021), Together We Are Stronger project engaged with more than 500 people through online workshops, exhibitions, publication and public art display (Oct 2020 - June 2021), Yeovil Mini Creatives initiatives provides 500 free activities booklets and connect with more than 200 families with preschool children; and the recent Front Yard Fest and Community Garden project this summer, which involved more than 500 individuals from different ages through community workshops, participatory events and collaborative art installation in public places. We have created volunteering, placement & job opportunities for 15 creative practitioners, and 6 months Kickstarts placement opportunities for 2 young creatives aged 16-24 (on-going). During this time, we developed an Art Action Group (AAG) to bring key agencies and organisations together to create a join-up approach for arts and culture provision in Yeovil, sharing resources, expertise and ideas, supporting the town's regeneration and Covid-19 recovery through co-commissioning artistic projects and initiatives. The group consists of 12 representatives from Yeovil Town Council, South Somerset District Council, Yeovil Refresh, Yeovil Together (Community Council for Somerset), Abri Housing, YMCA, Yeovil Connect (Yeovil Community Church & Health Commission Group), LoveYeovil (Yeovil Chamber of Commerce) and Yeovil Library. We also successfully engaged with primary and secondary schools in Town, offering out-of-school activities through our community projects.
