Recipient Org: Description | Seed is the Creative People and Places project for Sedgemoor, and the first of its kind in the South West. We were created in 2019 to create more opportunities for people to participate in and access the arts in Sedgemoor, where access to the arts is in the bottom 30 districts in England (According to the Active Lives Survey 2018). We believe that everybody has the right and ability to be creative, and we are here to help make that happen across Sedgemoor. Seed has been created by a consortium of six local organisations led by Homes in Sedgemoor with the other partners being Bridgwater Senior Citizen's Forum, Bridgwater Town Council, Young Somerset, Community Council for Somerset and Somerset Film. We work with local communities and groups to find out what they would like to do and help them to make it happen. In the past 12 months we have created more than 20 projects and events across Sedgemoor including Cheddar Valley Window Wonderland, Blues in the Pews in Highbridge and the Front Garden Music Festival. Our primary focus for the past 12 months has been in Highbridge where we have held the majority of our activities and established a number of new groups and ongoing programmes. One of our activities with one of the key partners in this project was ‘Journey Exchange’ which had local artists, young people and adults collaborating with outdoor performance artists from across Europe to create an outdoor spectacular performance event at The Morland Estate in October. This was an amazing coming together of many different people with differing levels of experience to create a highly memorable and well received event. |
