Recipient Org: Charity Number 1172434
Recipient Org: Description Our Purpose is to help alleviate isolation and loneliness of adults in Frome and surrounding villages through building greater community cohesion and embracing all generations. A&IT endeavours to form meaningful connections and to develop a sense of belonging in order to improve the health & well-being of all its members and the wider community Aim Our Aim is to provide support and friendship to individuals who feel lonely or isolated through: 1:1 matched befriending together with 1:1 matched phonecalls Providing an essential volunteer driver network including to vaccination centres and to deliver prescriptions A variety of social inclusion groups for adults of all ages Hosting special events such as outings, new groups, a Christmas lunch etc Support individuals to be more active through collaboration with other organisations We will do this, by communicating (newsletters, emails, Facebook, Twitter, flyers, newspapers) and recruitment (of staff, of volunteers, of members). We aspire in the future to work more with younger adults and inter-generational work. A recent example of our matched 1:1 befriending is that we matched a 19 year old boy who had become isolated at home due to bullying and lack of confidence to a qualified mentor & coach. Through walks and coffees this young man is now able to leave home unaccompanied and has recently begun to reengage with his friends and old activities.
