Recipient Org: Description bibic is a national charity based in Langport, Somerset. It delivers therapeutic programmes to children and young adults aged 6 months to 25 years with developmental and neurological difficulties. bibic sees them with or without diagnosis and supports a wide range of neurological and genetic conditions. Our team of highly experienced developmental therapists provide assessments and design tailored therapy programmes for every child and family to help: – Children and young adults manage their difficulties, to cope better in the world around them. – Parents and carers understand their child’s behaviour and needs. – Teachers support struggling children and young adults emotionally and educationally. Children and young adults do not require a referral to come to bibic for help. We support developmental difficulties, learning disabilities, special educational needs (SEN) and genetic conditions. We help many children and young adults with Autism, Brain injury, Cerebral palsy, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Global Developmental Delay (GDD), Dyslexia, Down’s Syndrome, Sensory processing difficulties and many more. We empower desperate parents and carers with the support and strategies they need to improve not only their young person’s life, but their family’s too. We help children and young adults understand their condition better and live more independent lives; they become more confident and look forward to the future because of bibic’s therapy programme; several have gone to university and many are in employment citing bibic as playing a key part in their progress. We treat every young person as the unique individual they are and follow a similar style for each assessment with variations depending on the difficulties they are experiencing. It is this holistic and integrated approach that makes bibic’s individualised therapy so effective. Assessments are delivered by a bibic developmental therapist to identify strengths, weaknesses and difficulties. In response to these outcomes, a bespoke programme of support is designed to address the underlying causes of those difficulties. Our approach empowers the young person, parents, carers and teachers with therapeutic interventions and strategies, helping the child to overcome challenges so that life at home and school is more fun and rewarding. At bibic we have four main values: Holistic - This is a blend of sensory, cognitive, emotional, developmental and physical exercises that support a child or young person’s specific needs. Nurturing - We know that the child/young person and their families can experience intense stress, isolation and exhaustion. We stand by their side to help them understand the specific needs, empowering them with strategies to support daily life and long-term development. Transformative - We recommend small changes which are achievable and make a big difference. We explore all areas of the individual’s development in order to unpick the foundation causes of their challenges and provide strategies to thrive. Progressive - We offer support with or without diagnosis. We find the answers families are searching for and explain them in terms that everyone can understand, no question is too silly. Always learning and always improving.
