Recipient Org: Description Wedmore Village Farm is The Food Forest Projects largest venture since it started. It is a multifunctional community space on the edge of the village of Wedmore. Its focus in the first year has been growing fresh vegetables to supply local food banks and schools. This 4.5 acre farm hosts the Wedmore Men's Shed, runs events around regenerative food and nature topics as well as a small camp site. It is a registered Care Farm with Somerset Council and is planning to expand this scheme helping vulnerable adults improve their health and life chances through farm work in a nature recovering and inspirational setting. The focus of the farm is to not only provide fresh local and regeneratively grown produce for local food banks which has been achieved in its first year but also to expand food production to supply local food outlets and the wider community. In addition local schools. St Benedicts in Glastonbury has been supplied with fresh produce and groups from local schools, Strode College and Cannington College have been on site volunteering and as part of their coursework. So this site is already producing food for those in need, providing educational services, improving the local biodiversity and connecting people locally to the benefits of organically grown food and access to green space.
