Recipient Org: Description LIFEbeat’s mission is to transform the lives of young people by nurturing safe, creative, intergenerational and diverse communities where together, we heal, learn and thrive. LIFEbeat has been working across Somerset since 2018. In the last year we have delivered a range of projects; supporting and working with over 1,250 children and young people across the county, through creative activities, training and residential programmes which have helped young people to build self esteem, emotional literacy, social skills and resilience, and develop empathy and understanding across lines of difference. We are particularly proud of the impact our annual residential programmes at Kilve Court have had on the young people that attended. These programmes explored themes of diversity, community, mental health and wellbeing. Young people were able to try new creative activities, connect with nature, meet new people and experience a safe community where they felt able to support others and express themselves. On the final day of each programme the young people stepped up to run the camp and lead all activities for the rest of the group; empowering the voices of Youth Leaders, and visioning ways that they and their peers can contribute to social change. This funding application will build on this work in Somerset.
