Recipient Org: Description | Berrow Village Hall is a vital resource for the village of Berrow as well as the surrounding areas of Brean and Burnham on Sea. We provide a well maintained facility which is used every day of the week by a cross section of groups and individuals We have 21 regular user groups using the hall and then we have our casual users ranging from the RSPCA to baby showers, wedding receptions, quizzes birthday parties. and the Brean and Berrow communiy Association. We also host the office of the Parish Council. . Our regular users range from toddler groups , Keep fit for all ages, U3A, Short mat bowls, Berrow and Brean Conservation group, WI, Stage 2 drama , Slimming World, Guides, Music with mummy Caravan Club ,,National Autistic Society Neighbourhood care Age UK and our community Hub. This a volunteer led initiative which provides a warm and safe environment plus a hot meal for those in need in the area. The hours are extended during the winter .months. The Trustees decided to support this group and the Hall is used free of charge. In the last two years the Hall has become the hub for the NHS blood donor sessions and social services now use the hall offering counselling and support to venerable young people and adults.. We are also delighted to welcome the 3 main service clubs in the area Burnham Rotary Burnham Lions and Burnham Moose. With the increasing numbers of people using the hall our users have identified some needs we don't currently have the resources to address. The first is a hearing loop sound system with an induction loop, The second is the replacement of much of the paving around the hall to give better wheelchair access and safer walking for the less mobile . Our third area covers energy conservation and includes vital action to replace our flat roof which has reached its time and in so doing solve the damp issues in the hall. . In replacing the flat roof we intend to improve the insulation in the roof to ensure we are as environmentally friendly as possible .As part of this energy saving initiative we also want to replace the current lighting in the main hall with LED bulbs The Trustees are able to raise the funds for regular maintenance but these issues will require outside support. We began our improvement programme by recently installing solar panels with the help of various Trusts.. We also worked recently to gain our Hallmark 1 and 2 status . We want to continue to work closely with our communities to ensure the Hall responds positively to new and emerging needs and remains a vital resource for Berrow Brean and Burnham. |
