Our vision is that people in the Harrogate District benefit from leading fulfilling and active lives and make a positive contribution to local community life. Our mission is to support our communities, charities and volunteers to make the Harrogate District a great place in which to live and work. Our overall aims are: • To help people take positive action to identify and meet the needs of their communities and enhance their own lives in doing so • To support communities, charities and volunteers across the Harrogate District by ensuring access to the best support and advice possible • To ensure that the role of charities and volunteers across the Harrogate District is recognised, and their contribution is valued and supported • To support the local voluntary and community sector to have a strong voice and effective influence on all decision makers in our area We have over 200 members and two thirds of our board of trustees are representatives of our member organisations. Via our networks we are in regular contact with over 1000 people with an interest in the VCS. We receive core grant funding from Harrogate Borough Council whom we work in clsoe partnership with, and also provide a number of services supporting older and vulnerable people which are funded in part via contracts with NYCC and HBC, supplemented by fundraising. We work in partnership with a range of local organisations across the public, private and voluntary sector, including THE LOCAL FUND for the Harrogate District. During the COVID19 crisis we have redirected our services to provide support to those in most need, working in close partnership with HBC and NYCC. |
