We provide free at the point of access counselling to all those who refer themselves to us. We ask our clients for a donation if they can afford one, but we do not want lack of money to be a barrier to accessing high quality counselling. We are not problem specific; if an individual needs to talk they leave their name and a contact number, they are called back and go on our waiting list. The service provides 6 sessions of counselling following on from an initial introductory session, with a possible extension of up to a further 6 sessions. We currently have 20 counsellors offering about 60 hours counselling a week. Amongst our counsellors are those undertaking professional training; these counsellors are mentored and supported by our more experienced, qualified counsellors. Our charitable objectives are to relievethe mental suffering of persons in need to include, but not exclusively, those facing bereavement, relationship difficulties and breakdown, ill health (both mental and physical), redundancy, unemployment, stress and anxiety, gender identity issues, pregnancy related difficulties, discrimination, displacement, bullying and harassment, trauma, abuse, financial hardship, caring for another, judicial processes, growing older and end of life by the provision of counselling and support. As well as relieving the mental suffering of persons in need we are passionate about educating people in this subject of counselling and mental and emotional wellbeing too. Our feedback shows us to be effective in our aims and valued by all who use us.
