Recipient Org: Description | Accessible Arts & Media is a small charity in Chapelfields, York, running inclusive arts and media learning projects since 1982. We support over 800 people each year, including disabled adults and young people, people living with dementia and people with mental ill-health. We also work with schools, community groups and businesses and deliver training. The people who take part in our projects face difficulty with everyday activities and can end up feeling isolated and cut off. We help them socialise, make friends and develop skills and confidence to create positive relationships, build resilience, improve wellbeing and have more of a say in the things that matter to them. We contribute to steering groups and forums including York Cultural Leaders Group, Cultural Wellbeing in York, Ways to Wellbeing, York Voluntary Youth Sector Network, and York Learning Disability Providers Forum. Partners who refer and support people to attend our activities and host residencies include: care providers (e.g. Mencap); schools (mainstream/special); residential care settings; City of York Council’s (CYC) Local Area Coordinators; CYC Local Area Teams; CYC Adult Social Care; NHS Link Workers; and York Families Wellbeing Service. We also work with several mental health teams and services in the TEWV NHS Trust. |
