Conference of the Society for the Social History of Medicine 2012 'Emotions, Health and Wellbeing' to be held at QMUL on 10-12 September 2012 (360G-Wellcome-096697_Z_11_Z)

£12,400

Since 2006, the Society for the Social History of Medicine conference has brought together scholars in the social history of medicine from Britain and overseas. It is the largest, and single most important meeting in the field to take place in Britain on a regular (every other year) basis. All meetings thus far have enjoyed support from the Wellcome Trust. Particular attention is paid to allowing the opportunity to younger scholars to present their research. Each conference is themed, and this year's subject is 'Emotions, Health and Wellbeing'. Topics are chosen to extend a cutting edge field in the history of medicine and to stimulate further research initiatives. The topic for 2012 is appropriate for QMUL's Centre for the History of the Emotions, which has Wellcome Enhancement Award status, and this conference will help develop the international profile of the centre.
