The goal of the propsed research project is to investigate the pathogensis of Trypanosome infection in working equids. The project aims at examining the immunophenotype of the lymphocyte infiltrate of brain tissues from a group of Gambian horses and donkeys infected with trypanosomiasis. We will use immunohistochemistry markers for B and T lymphocytes and measure the distance these cells are moving from the Virchow-Robin space.
