(Pilot) Improved Breastfeeding Support to Treat Acute Malnutrition amongst Infants under 6 months (IBAMI) (360G-Wellcome-202976_Z_16_Z)

This research aims at comparing the congruence between the current secondary school health education curriculum in Kenya, with curriculum roll-out experiences of teachers and students and the health education needs of secondary school students. To address this I will: conduct a document review to outline the current reproductive health education policy, curriculum and resources available for delivery in Kenya; use qualitative methods, mainly focus group discussions and in-depth interviews to des cribe student and teacher experiences of the reproductive health education curriculum; and participatory video to explore the health education needs of secondary school students. Videos produced by students detailing their own narratives and needs in relation to reproductive health education will be shown to audiences comprising fellow students, teachers and education stakeholders in order to elicit responses and reflections. Mismatches between curriculum aims, student experiences and student ne eds will identify recommendations for policy change in health education and contribute to curriculum development.
