Small Co Production (360G-Wellcome-205136_Z_16_Z)

£40,000

Against The Law is an ambitious drama-documentary that will immerse our audience in a time before 1967 when homosexuals were viewed as criminals who could be incarcerated or forced to undergo medical treatments in order to deal with their 'condition'. The drama at the heart of the film tells the compelling story behind the Montagu Trial which began the seachange in attitudes towards homosexuals. Woven through it will be fascinating documentary testimony from those who lived under the shadow of the laws against homosexuals helping us bring to life the reality of a less enlightened time in our recent history. The film will shed light on the enduring psychological damage suffered by those who, criminalised by the laws pre-'67, were like exiles in their own country.
