Genomically Enhanced Screening for Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm: A qualitative study of Concepts, Methods and Communication (360G-Wellcome-337446_Z_25_Z)
This project is part of a larger proposed programme of research to determine the feasibility of screening for Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms (AAA) informed by genomic risk, and whether this is ethical, acceptable and practical. This project consists of two distinct qualitative work packages that have been informed by a literature review to explore the acceptability of using genomics in AAA screening, the practical aspects and preferences for communication. Work Package 1 (WP1) will involve semi-structured interviews with men ages 60 - 70 to explore the public perception and trust of using genomic risk and lifestyle factors as part of an enhanced AAA screening invitation. This will then inform the design of work package 2 (WP2). WP2 will consist of a six step co-design process using think-aloud testing with men aged 60 - 70. WP2 aims to design appropriate, and publicly acceptable, methods for communication of genomic risk, and develop of decision support tool.
