Eleanor (she/her) is a dramatherapist, conducting her Doctoral Fellowship at Warwick Medical School, supported through the MHNDTP. Eleanor’s project, PAINT, aims to understand what the intervention components and mechanisms of action of arts psychotherapies used in NHS adolescent services are, what the outcomes of these interventions are, and which measures are currently used for evaluation. PAINT will demonstrate how components, mechanisms, and outcomes can be linked in a logic model to enable systematic and consistent evaluations. The study uses mixed methods, including interviews, co-design workshops, and practice observations. Eleanor is passionate about PAINT, to increase understanding of arts psychotherapies interventions for stakeholders at all levels, to offer clearer expectations for interventions and to empower patients to make informed decisions about their treatment. Research into the arts psychotherapies aims to offer diversified and patient centred provisions, and decrease health inequities Stakeholders, including members of the public, patients and parents/carers, and clinicians, will be involved at all stages of PAINT.
