Digital Public Infrastructure for Climate and Health (DPI4CH) to advance climate health resilience (360G-Wellcome-349159_Z_26_Z)

£152,133
Recipient Organisation

The World Health (WHO)-World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Climate and Health Joint Programme (Joint Programme Office), with partners, will advance digital public infrastructure (DPI) for trustworthy, integrated and interoperable climate and health data and information systems by extending the Digital Public Infrastructure for Climate and Health (DPI4CH) project through a new 12 month grant April 1, 2026 through March 31 2027. This extension builds on the existing partnerships with Digital Square at PATH and WHO’s Department for Data, Digital Health, Analytics and AI (WHO Digital & Data). To empower health systems to anticipate and respond to climate threats, this extension operationalizes the Wellcome-Joint Programme Office’s vision to build a science-policy-implementation ecosystem where interoperability and collaboration is the default. Moving beyond the initial landscape identification, the primary purpose of this phase is to establish the normative foundation and institutional capacity required to turn climate science into actionable health decisions. By evolving the 'Global Goods' concept into active market horizon scan and analysis, as well as 'ground- truthing' technical guidance through in-country readiness assessments and local adaptation, this investment ensures that digital climate-health solutions are not just available, but can be scalable, standardized, and integrated as a sustainable core of national health and climate infrastructure.
