Supporting Advocacy, Thought Leadership and Evidence use Across Three Priority Areas in Africa: Climate and Health, Mental Health, and Global Health. (360G-Wellcome-355359_Z_26_Z)

£5,100,504

This grant will strengthen African-led advocacy, evidence use and thought leadership across three interconnected priority areas: climate and health, mental health, and global health advocacy. Anchored in Amref’s presence across 35 African countries and its partnerships with Ministries of Health, Africa CDC, the African Group of Negotiators (AGN), and regional and global partners, the programme will support stronger African coordination, collective positioning, visibility, and leadership across key policy, financing, and governance discussions. The programme responds to a critical period for African and global health policy, including COP31-32-33, AHAIC 2027-2029, growing momentum around mental health and adaptation financing, and broader global health architecture reform discussions. It will leverage the convening power of African institutions and platforms to strengthen African voices in policy and financing discussions. Across all pillars, the programme will support the generation, translation, and strategic deployment of African-led evidence and implementation learning to inform regional and global policy work. Through strategic convenings, knowledge products, catalytic ecosystem support, and strengthened institutional capacity, the programme aims to strengthen African influence within climate and health, mental health, and broader global health discourse. Keywords: climate and health, mental health, advocacy, thought leadership, global health architecture, health governance, evidence translation, COP32, health systems resilience
