Northern Powerhouse R&D; and Innovation Impact Series (360G-Wellcome-355541_Z_26_Z)
Following the success of the regional pilot programme (the Liverpool City Region R&D Impact Series), Aid Alliance is proposing the next phase of this work, to be led again by Lou Harbour: a phased regional engagement programme that builds on the momentum, relationships, and lessons developed through the Liverpool pilot. The programme will consist of connected phases: 1\. Phase one: continuing and deepening engagement across the Liverpool City Region, alongside a flagship Labour Party Conference 2026 event in Liverpool designed to elevate these conversations nationally and showcase the region’s leadership around innovation, growth and global health. 2\. Phase two: expanding the model into Greater Manchester through two major convening events and wider borough-level engagement activity, testing how the approach can be adapted across another major regional ecosystem while engaging one of the UK’s most politically influential city regions. 3\. Phase three: exploring the potential for a future “Northern Powerhouse” convening opportunity around Labour Party Conference 2027, focused on R&D and innovation, bringing together partners from across Liverpool City Region and Greater Manchester as part of a wider regional conversation around innovation, growth and public trust.
