Recipient Org: Description | REACH Community Health Project is a national third sector organisation with a key strategic role in improving health & wellbeing of disadvantaged communities, in particular, Ethnic Minority (EM) Communities. The project is committed to facilitate change within mainstream health and wellbeing services to meet the needs of disadvantaged Communities. We work in partnership with the Scottish Government, NHS Health Boards, Local Government and regional Health and Social Care Partnerships (HSCPs) at policy level, including in service delivery and with EM community organisations and individuals at a grass roots level. REACH ensures the engagement and participation of under-represented communities is service design and policy consultations and one of the key components of our service delivery is to help reduce health inequalities in Scotland. Key activities include support, treatment & advise on substance misuse &mental health; one-to-one mental health counselling; health promotional programmes on specific health and wellbeing issues delivered; employability skills development support; fitness activities, including health walks; training and volunteering placements; public participation training to communities to help build their capacity and increase their knowledge and understanding about mainstream services, their rights and responsibilities; equality and cultural diversity training to service providers to help increase their understanding of EM |
