Recipient Org: Description | Arran High School Mountain Bike Club began as a community group in October 2014. The Charity is now a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) and was registered in its current legal form in March 2016. Our aims are to provide opportunity for Arran High School pupils to participate in mountain biking and to encourage them to choose cycling as a sustainable form of transport. We won Scottish Cycling's best MTB club award for a variety of reasons, including; offering multiple residential mainland MTB trips each year, offering three different ability groups after school for over two and a half hours each week, continuing to ride with night riding in the colder, darker winter months when most outdoor activities stop, offering Scotland's first and only regular 'girls only' after school MTB activity, visiting our seven feeder primary schools to deliver peer skills coaching and free bike repairs, offering workshop open days for free bike repairs and hosting regular community trail maintenance and repair days. |
