This work supports the Home Office’s response to reducing serious violence and tackling Violence Against Women and Girls.Safeguarding gang-associated women and girls was one of the six key priorities of the Ending Gang Violence and Exploitation Report which informed the development of the response to serious violence.The specific purpose of the Young Person’s Advocates (YPAs) is for improving services to young people suffering rape, sexual abuse and exploitation in areas most affected by gangs, and with an understanding of the specific risks that gang violence has on a young person. The specific context of gangs makes the role of the YPA distinct from that of an Independent Sexual Violence Advisor.
