Strengthened capacity for intelligence-led investigations, prosecutions and transboundary cooperationreduces the impact of COVID-19 on the escalating trafficking of pangolins, elephant ivory and other globallythreatened wildlife through Uganda.Uganda and eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) are hubs for illicit wildlife product trafficking. Thisproject will respond to the urgent need to disrupt escalating wildlife trafficking associated with thereduction in law enforcement resourcing associated with COVID-19. Investigations into traffickers operatingfrom Uganda’s national parks and between DRC and Uganda will enable government agencies to conductsuccessful law enforcement. COVID-19 impacts on wildlife trafficking and zoonotic disease emergence risksin Uganda/DRC will be published in a briefing document.
